Mayor Bloomberg We Have Your Solution: Streamphone in the Streets and Subways of New York City Tue, 24 Jan 2006 21:37:00 EST (PRWEB) Instantstream, Inc. this week held a public demonstration in New York City of the new Streamphone 2.0, displaying live video call/conferencing from a moving vehicle (New York City Yellow Cab Taxi) with 12 video mobile conference participants.
Michael Daly (CEO of Instantstream, Inc.) said “Streamphone is here today, in use by corporations, individuals, and ready for corporate and Homeland Security use…the Streamphone service is seeking investors and partners as we develop and phase in to service over the next few months. Streamphone offers audio, video and multimedia services over the Verizon EVDO, T-Mobile Hotspots, Intel Wimax and Motorola Canopy networks. The Streamphone Service is compatible with any broadband, wireless high speed network and offers wireless pocket pc to pocket pc and desktop video calls. Today Streamphone was demonstrated on HP iPAQ 4705 T-Mobile Hotspots, Samsung i730 (Verizon EVDO), Samsung M800, and Dell X51v (Sprint wireless high-speed data (EV-DO) network. Instantstream's Streamphone service works over most networks for less than 2 cents per minute without using your cell phone minutes Streamphone is working today and Instantstream has clients in the US, China, Africa, Korea and Europe. The early users of this next generation Streamphone video phone are US and foreign corporations. In the future we expected four user segments for Streamphone—residential/youth, small to medium enterprises, corporate, and emergency services works-- and while the corporate segment is usually the drivers of new services there were signs that the consumers segments could be the major drivers of the mobile video market."
Next week Instantstream plans to demonstrate (after receiving city consent) in the New York City subways system, but Daly states “we can do it today but I hear it's going to take about 10 years for that to happen for non streamphone users”… “Our intent is to place a Streamphone Pocket pc in hands of every New York City Police Officer so to provide live mobile video surveillance and remote instant response to emergency events here in New York City and around the world.”
Daly said “Instantstream would provide a wide range of communication services from mobile video call services, live video content, conferencing meeting to security monitoring services”… “Our other partners and potential partners are already developing business models around the core technologies and the future look very bright.”
